Back to the Beach

Lately, I've been dreaming of beachy waves, maxi dresses, long walks along the sand, nautical themed accessories, chic cloth bags to hold all my junk, thick sweaters, and an endless stretch of days-full of promises. Summer please come!

As Coco Chanel once said, "Always remove one thing before you leave the house. Less is more." Fully accepting that quote means embracing the simplicity of minimalism. There's such an unspoken elegance in simple clothing that speaks wonders beyond the bold outfits many tend toward. In honor of quiet beauty:

  • SLEEVELESS DRESS
  • XL FASHION CLUTCH
  • LINEN SCARF
  • SHORT JACKET
Knitted Stripe Boxy Jumper
White Sheer Sleeve Shift Dress
(All clothing from Zara except for the last two which are from Topshop.)

Uniforms

When I think of uniforms, I imagine same sex schools swimming with plaid skirts and rows of ironed navy blazers a la my style icon, Blair Waldorf.

However this is often not the case. For one, my knowledge of private schools is quite limited so I could be completely of base with my stereotypical view of their clothes. For another thing uniforms are not just for school age children. Just a few months ago, style icon Vera Wang admitted to having a uniform that she wears most day. Most day my uniform consists of skinny jeans (a staple!) and a statement piece. While normally I try to dress up a little more, today was a long day so I threw on my favorite jeans, a super soft t-shirt and my new Delia's scarf. I love how the focus immediately goes to the scarf with it's ombre pattern and my bangs (new addition)

Why can't everything just be pretty?

Last weekend I did something that, on reflection, I've decided was completely spur of the moment and 100% irrational; I decorated my desk. I know I sound like I'm overreacting and quite possibly I am, but I went shopping and came back with over a $100 of accessories for a place I rarely use. Why did I do it I ask myself? I'm only 14-not really in need of a desk-yet I like every place I am to be full of adorable things that make me happy every time I sit down. Hence, the desk makeover.

Happy Weekend!

I hate to admit it but I have a very monochromatic wardrobe mainly consisting of black. Whenever I go shopping (which is often) I plan on buying pops of color to spice it up but I always end up finding another great black piece and my plan goes out the window. In honor of springtime approaching I wanted to spice things up so I grabbed one of my favorite printed Forever 21 dress, threw on my trusty black skirt and belt (I had to add some black to it), added a maroon motorcycle jacket and decided to enjoy the wonderful weather we're having. Happy Spring!

Dresses of Desire

Though I posted this picture less than 24 hours ago it has been bouncing around my head continuously ever since. I'm not sure exactly what it is; the full skirt, blurred lines, cozy umbrella(I love umbrellas!) or, quiet possibly, it's the dress. There's something about the neckline, tie waist, and just right shade of yellow that is attaching itself firmly in my mind. Luckily, I found some dresses that might be able to quench my sudden desire for yellow.

Mika - Happy Ending

I've been obsessed with this song for as long as I can remember. The lyrics are very sad but the guy's voice is just gorgeous. (Is there anything cuter than that backround?!)
